Invitation to Lithuanian Language and Culture Winter Course at Vytautas Magnus University

Vytautas Magnus University cordially invites you to apply to Lithuanian Language and Culture Winter Course (January 2-31, 2024) held online and in the capital city Vilnius.

 

4 weeks of intensive Lithuanian language classes, various sociocultural lectures, workshops, fieldtrips, new connections and much more is awaiting you this winter!

 

For foreigners and foreigners of Lithuanian origin there is an opportunity to receive a scholarship (for contact course) or a tuition waiver (for online course). Don't meet the criteria for it? No problem you may get a discount anyway!

 

Application for scholarship / tuition waiver candidates is open until 5th of November, for paying candidates who need a visa until 5th of November and for paying candidates who dont need a visa until 10th of December.

Baltischer Jugend- und Studentenkongress (25.-28.9.2014)

Vom 25. - 28. September 2014 findet in Lauenburg und Lüneburg der Baltische Jugend- und Studentenkongress zum Thema „Miteinander leben können?“ statt.

Der Kongress richtet sich an eingeschrieben Studenten europäischer Hochschulen aller Fachrichtungen und an Schüler der Oberstufe ab 18 Jahren. Er setzt bei den Teilnehmern die Bereitschaft zu intensiver Mitarbeit und konzentrierter Auseinandersetzung voraus. Unterrichtssprache ist Deutsch. Zum Programm gehören Vorträge, Zukunfts-Workshop, Kulturprogramm, Teilnahme an den Deutschbaltischen Kulturtagen der Carl-Schirren-Gesellschaft in Lüneburg. Die Kosten betragen 50 € (Frühbucher bis 30.04.14 40 €) für Teilnehmer aus Deutschland und Westeuropa (25 € (Frühbucher bis 30.04.14 20 €) für Teilnehmer aus Estland, Lettland, Litauen und Russland) für Unterkunft, Verpflegung, Tagungsprogramm zzgl. Fahrtkostenerstattung (vorher erfragen).

Vokalensemble NORDIC VOICES beim Mainzer Musiksommer

»Lament and Consolation« – geistliche Musik Norwegens und Werke der europäischen Renaissance von David Bratlie, Carlo Gesualdo, Frank Havrøy, Bjarne Sløgedal, Lasse Thoresen, Thomas Tomkins und Thomas Luis de Victoria.

Grenzen überschreiten, die menschliche Stimme ausreizen, Alt und Neu miteinander konfrontieren, ungewöhnliche Ausdrucksformen finden: Das ist es, was die sechs Sängerinnen und Sänger des Vokalensembles »Nordic Voices« begeistert und verbindet. 1996 in Norwegen gegründet, ist das Ensemble nicht nur eines der führenden Interpreten zeitgenössischer skandinavischer Musik, sondern auch der Renaissance-Musik. »Nordic Voices braucht den Vergleich mit den besten englischen Gruppen nicht zu scheuen«, schreibt die Fachzeitschrift Fono Forum, »sein Ensembleklang ist füllig und zugleich transparent, seine Gestaltung der Spannungsbögen bemerkenswert kraftvoll, ohne dass die Dynamik forciert würde.« Für das Konzert im Mainzer Musiksommer kombiniert »Nordic Voices« norwegische Volksweisen und zeitgenössische Bibelvertonungen.

Intensive Summer Course in Finnish Language and Culture: June 24 – July 12 2013

The joy of learning in the most beautiful part of Finland!
Come and enjoy the international atmosphere, study Finnish language and get to know the Finnish way of life in the intensive course of the Summer University of Jyväskylä.
There are three highly professional and dedicated teachers. Also there are two leisure time coordinators with whom the students:

  • Take trips to Finnish nature, visit open-air dances and concerts
  • Sit around a campfire and have a sauna
  • And have fun time together

Every year approximately 40 people from 20 different countries participate in the course. The youngest students have been 17 years old and the oldest over 70 years old.

COURSE OUTLINE

The course consists of five contact teaching lessons during week-days (5 x 45 minutes), total of 80 lessons, 6 ECTS. The lessons will be given mainly in Finnish, but English will be used if necessary. The size of the group is about 15 students.

There will also be a possibility of additional teaching lessons for extra fee. These classes are taught by the teachers of the intensive course.

TARGET GROUP

The course is aimed at everyone over the age of 17 and who is interested in Finnish language and culture. No other qualifications are required. We offer instruction in Finnish for both beginners and advanced students, as well as experienced students (A1-C2).

LEISURE TIME

We also organize versatile recreational activities and experiences evenings and weekends. Part of the programme is free of charge. Students get to know Finnish nature, culture and customs in an authentic environment.
