Forschungsassistenz Dänisch oder Schwedisch gesucht/CfA Research assistant Danish or Swedish

For a research project at the London School of Economics and Political Science, we are looking for two to four short-term research assistants, who fulfil the following criteria.

Qualification Requirements: One native speaker or of proven native-like proficiency in one of the following languages:

o   Danish [Denmark], work package of 78h worth €780,00;

Alternatively, one work package of 39h worth €390,00.

o   Swedish [Sweden], one work package of 78h worth €780,00;

Alternatively, one work package of 39h worth €390,00.

  • Knowledge about the country’s politics and its political history.
  • Finished at least their third semester of a bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Sociology, Political Science, History, Media or Communication Studies, Language Studies or a similar discipline
  • Must be reliable, have an efficient working style and excellent time management skills
  • Good understanding of English as this will be the working language and that of instructions
  • Must own or have access to a computer with Open Office and a reliable connection to the internet
  • Interest in political debates and discourse of the respective country or countries

The majority of the task will consist of the digital classification of single sentences from political speeches and manifestos into seven pre-defined categories concerning populism. There will be a zoom induction introducing the labelling instructions with explanations and examples on how to correctly allocate texts into categories. You will also be asked to use your political and cultural knowledge to identify keywords for each category.

Payment is 10€ per hour, via service contract or per bill (in accordance to German law). Due to funding regulation constraints, the work packages need to be finished by 4th December 2020. The induction session will take place next Monday (16 November) or Tuesday (17 November) on zoom.
